Royal Wedding Party Details & My Passion for Party Planning

Royal Wedding Party Details + My Passion for Party Planning

I absolutely love to entertain! A friend of mine just said the other day that all I need is the slightest reason and I am ready to plan a party or an event. I love figuring out the perfect table setting, decorations, the menu and how to make each event special — and most of all, memorable. Today’s post includes my royal wedding party details and all about my passion for party planning.

Royal Wedding Party Details + My Passion for Party Planning

I credit my mom for planting the entertaining bug in me. I can remember each of my birthday parties growing up and they were always well thought out with amazing themes, decorations and entertainment. My fondest memory is when I turned 5 years old, my parents had all of the furniture removed from our family room so that a local puppet theatre could set up and perform for my friends and me. These parties went on well into my teens and were always enjoyed by all. My parents hosted lots of large dinners as well as parties that centered around wonderful menus and lots of laughter that are all still imprints on my life. I in turn, over the years, have spent long hours thinking of themes and just the right venue for many parties for my family and friends. Many of my friends have often asked me for help in planning their events and that gives me so much joy.

The Royal wedding was a wonderful excuse for me to put my party planning skills to work recently. My oldest daughter and I decided that it would be a big event in our house, so the royal wedding viewing pajama party plans began. I scoured the internet for hours looking at fascinators, English cuisine and the exact timing of all the festivities. I then headed out to Joanne Fabrics to get all the supplies I needed to make homemade fascinators. I must say they turned out quite wonderful. Next, I was on to baking homemade scones, regular and gluten-free, off to the florist for peonies and to the grocery for all the other things we needed.

My sweet husband and a dear friend’s husband even humored us and set 4:30 a.m. wake up alarms to join in our festivities.  I think they were really there for the complete mimosa and Bloody Mary bar.  The maple-glazed bacon and shrimp skewers were a great addition to the Bloody Marys! My daughter loved  all the photos of the royals that were hanging in the room. We needed to feel their presence with our celebration. We spent hours sipping on our drinks and watching the arrival of the guests and the beautiful wedding ceremony. It was evident that so much planning had gone into their special day with so many unique touches to make it one that not only they, but the entire world will remember. As you can see from the photos, we had a very memorable royal wedding viewing pajama party that will be remembered for years to come!

Currently, I am obsessed with planning a 60th wedding celebration for my in-laws. Our entire family will be going to up-state New York to one of their favorite places for the weekend to celebrate their love affair that has been going on since they were both teenagers. I cant wait to tell you all about it very soon!
