Today was my hubbies birthday, but a painful toothache spoiled his enjoyment of his special day. Food always consumes all of our celebrations so there was a lot of fun food things planned for throughout the day. The kids and I decided we needed to still eat while watching the Colts game so we had a semi cook-off of Smoked Chicken Wings vs Air Fryer wings.
Here are are the recipes for you to try and see which you like the best!
Smoked Wings
2 family packs of Chicken wings
Magic DustRub :
1/4 cup garlic powder, 1/4 cup onion powder, 1/4 cup chili powder ,3 2 tbsp cayenne pepper, 1/4 cup paprika, 2 tbsp trivia 2 tbsp salt
Place Hickory Chips in Smoker and bring smoker to 250 degrees
Fully coat Wings with Magic Dust Rub and place wings directly on racks and smoke for 1 1/2 hours
Then place in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes and broil for 5 more.
If desired you can then toss them in Franks buffalo sauce. We usually toss 1/2 in Franks and leave the rest alone!
Ever Since my daughter convinced me to get an air fryer last week, we have been putting it to the test and it has not disappointed. There are so many different ones to choose from and so many different sizes. I purchased the As seen on Tv 3 qt one from Target so that I could make larger batches of things and I am really happy with my choice. It is so easy to use and they definitely rivaled the smoked ones which are my favorite!
Air Fryer Wings
8 Wings
Season Wings with olive oil salt and pepper and place in air fryer basket
Put Air Fryer to 380 degrees for 15 minutes then turn up to 400 for another 15 minutes so that they are extra crispy.
In a small pot mix 4 tbsp soy (or tamari in our house), 1/2cup honey, 4 large garlic cloves crushes, 1 Tbsp ginger, 1/3 cup water, 1/2 tsp chili flakes and 1 Tbsp corn starch and mix well and bring to a boil then simmer for approximately 10 minutes. Pour over wings and toss thoroughly!
Double the sauce recipe for larger patches of wings.
Either method that you choose will be devoured and enjoyed by all!
